Owlbear Rodeo

Share a room link, then put tokens on one scene

Owlbear is only the battle map—Foundry’s canvas, Roll20’s scene, not Pathbuilder and not the combat tracker. The GM owns the room. Players open a URL, ask to join, and wait to be admitted.

Official product: owlbear.rodeo. Short GM walkthrough: Getting Started. How rooms and invites work: Rooms. There is also a first-session video if someone wants to see the UI before call night.

GM: room, scene, invite

Create a free GM account and a room from the profile page (Creating a Room). Copy the room URL, or use Invite Players, and paste that link in Discord. Admit join requests. On the first Owlbear pass (Session step 4), screen-share, load the AMBA extensions, connect to the stub module, and import PCs and character sheets only. Players take ownership of their token and practice moving. Maps, monsters, and a full export come later in that order—not on this first pass.

Player: link, waiting room, no account required

Open the GM’s room link in a browser. Set a display name (your handle is fine). Ask to join and wait. Owlbear allows anonymous players: you can use tools that do not need saved assets. Create an account only if you must upload a custom token. Once admitted, move only what the GM said is yours. Keep the new WGUI on another window for stat blocks and combat notes. You do not need AMBA as a player.

What to notice

Does the invite link work for everyone? Can the GM admit people without a room password? Do PC and monster tokens exist after export, or only after hand placement? Can players move their tokens without editing the GM’s map? Stat blocks may stay in WG beside the scene. If the two tools disagree, jot both observations on feedback.
